Hello everybody and welcome to my Blog!
I'm very excited about things happening lately and I'm glad to share some of them with you, if you're interested!
So, first of all the most exciting thing is, that I joined an Art Collective of 8 smart ladies from all around the world with the common purpose to exhibit at SURTEX in New York in May 2016 – woohoo! Our Art Collective is called FINCH&FOXGLOVE and you should totally go check out our website and look at all the various kinds of Art my fellow Illustrators and me have on offer.
So, this is the BIG news. And going along with that many new things have to happen, as you can imagine! I'm learning loads of new stuff every day and I'm already happy and thankful for this experience! So for example Adriana set up an asana account for all of us to simplify communication (because it's not easy to keep track when 8 girls, who live in different time zones around the globe, write emails and posts on Facebook…). Maybe some of you know this app already. I personally have never heard of it before and I'm totally thrilled about how easy and intuitive it was to learn and how helpful this tool is! So, take this as a recommendation, please ;-)
Next task (for me) was to set up a well working website, loaded with my best artwork and presentable to potential clients. As we (or Courtney, to be exact) built our Finch&Foxglove Website on Squarespace, I decided to go with it, too. Also I already had some recommendations for that platform and so I dived right in! I learned, that a website will grow with time and should still be adjustable to personal needs. So far I'm feeling really content with what I accomplished in a short amount of time, later I'm planning to add a Shop and the Portfolio will be filled up step by step – now grow! my little website…
In regard to our SURTEX prep we're very busy putting together a list of potential clients who might be interested in our work and who we would like to invite to visit our booth. This is a challenging task, but our team is highly motivated and everyone is digging through books and internet to provide the team with best information. So YAY for the Finch Flock!
Another very exciting thing on my schedule is next week's upcoming Frankfurt Book Fair! This event per se is a big deal. I love strolling through the isles and get in touch with all the new books and quite often I've been lucky enough to meet (or at least see) some famous Illustrators or Children's Book Writers that I'm a fan of (like Paul Maar or Lisbeth Zwerger). But next week it will be EVEN BETTER! Because Johanna Fritz (who is also one of my favorite artists and the host of the #365doodleswithjohannafritz) set up an appointment with some fellow illustrators that I admire and I know only from the internet! So cool to finally get to see the faces behind the beautiful art!
So if you like to know how that meeting will turn out and what happens next in the Finch&Foxglove nest: stay tuned! I will use this Blog to document the way to our exhibit at SURTEX 2016 and you are more than welcome to join us on that exciting journey!
